Remove a distraction behind the subject
A distraction touching a person is two problems: reconstruct the background and preserve every subject pixel along the shared boundary.

Mark the unwanted object in short sections and stop the mask just before hair, clothing or skin. Automatic expansion can cross a low-contrast subject edge.

Fill from background that shares perspective and texture. Copying a distant wall patch beside the camera can produce the wrong scale even when its colour matches.

Inspect contact areas at high zoom, then judge the whole portrait at normal size. A technically imperfect patch can be invisible, while a slightly dented silhouette remains obvious.

When the object covers part of the subject, no background-only fill can restore that missing anatomy or clothing. Use another frame or accept a visible edit boundary.
